Girls Night Out
The idea behind Girls Night Out, says event organiser Carly Thomson, is that women all over the world face similar challenges.
“Whether they live in Africa or New Zealand, women spend their lives multi-tasking. Their family is their priority and their friends keep them sane. And over the years and through the many challenges they face, they gather pearls of wisdom. When they share this wisdom with each other, lives are changed and communities can be transformed,” she says.
The event is suitable for women of all ages. World Vision uses the event as a way of educating women about the problems in the developing world and giving them the opportunity to do something to help, through Child Sponsorship.
The $15 ticket price includes a performance by musician Juliagrace, a presentation by an inspirational speaker, supper and a goodie bag full of treats.
Allison Mooney, the director of Personality Plus is one of the keynote speakers. She was awarded Speaker of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and Most Humorous and Entertaining Speaker in 2006 and 2007. Cindy Gibbons, author of Breaking the Cycle, former star of TV One’s How's Life, and owner of clothing store Precious Vessels is also a Girls Night Out speaker. Petra Bagust has recently joined the line-up of Girls Night Out speakers and is looking forward to taking the stage later in the year.
