World Vision Brings Bangladesh to Life at Sylvia Park

Bangladesh is coming to Auckland this June and July thanks to World Vision’s all-new experiential story-telling installation, Journey of Hope.

Allowing Kiwis to step into the life of 10-year-old Munni and her family, the first-of-its-kind walk-through experience will give shoppers at both Sylvia Park and LynnMall shopping centres the chance to see and experience, first-hand, the heart of World Vision’s work.

From where Munni and her family cook, eat, sleep and play, Journey of Hope will bring rural Bangladesh to life, complete with augmented reality technology and sensory immersion.

Grant Bayldon, World Vision New Zealand’s National Director says the installation came about as the charity wanted to give more Kiwis the chance to ‘visit the field’ – in the most realistic way, and for the very first time.

“Each time we have someone – be it a staff member or supporter – travel overseas to see both the need for and impact of World Vision’s work, their lives are transformed.

“Bringing Munni’s home to life for New Zealanders is such a privilege. Munni has been sponsored through World Vision’s Child Sponsorship programme for the past four years, and over this time, she has experienced significant changes – like being able to attend school,” he says.

“Thanks to kind-hearted Kiwis, there are tens of thousands of vulnerable children around the world, like Munni, and their communities, who are benefitting from World Vision’s Child Sponsorship programme. For this, we are so grateful, but so much more needs to be done.”

Bayldon adds that in Bangladesh alone, the charity has upwards of 2,000 children waiting to be sponsored.

He says it is for this reason Journey of Hope is so important.
