40 Hours? Challenge completed!

Taking part in the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge has become one of our nation’s largest and most life-changing forces for good. For some of us, it will always be associated with barely sugars. Do you remember the first time you signed up?

This year marked our 50th anniversary, which we were thrilled to celebrate with every single person, team, school, church and workplace who participated.

For 40 hours on 21–23 June, young people across Aotearoa took on a range of challenges and raised funds to help our Asia-Pacific neighbours fight the impacts of climate change.

From planting 400 trees in 40 hours and 40 acts of kindness to 40 upcycled outfits, 40 km with 40 prefects, 40 hours in a cage, teaching a dog 40 new tricks, a 40-hour radio broadcast, a fundraising concert, sports night, Survivor competition and so much more, this year's World Vision 40 Hour Challenge was the most creative yet!

The funds you raised are already hard at work, helping communities to fight the impacts of climate change, restore local forests and keep them healthy for years to come.

That includes Pasquela in Timor-Leste!

Three years ago, a cyclone destroyed her family’s farm and suddenly, her parents faced a daily struggle to feed their children. But things are changing!

With your help, Pasquela’s family are learning climate-smart farming and have received seedlings to help them get started.

Farmers in Pasquela’s community are also learning how to unlock underground forests and regrow trees fast. Revived forests can improve soil so farmers can grow more crops, protect water sources during droughts, and prevent landslides during floods.

You’re also helping her community to plan for and respond to extreme weather events. This helps reduce the risks they bring, so everyone has a better chance of surviving the effects of climate change.

This is just the start of your impact. You should feel so proud.

Whether you raised $10 or $1,000, it all counts.

From the bottom of our hearts, ngā mihi nui ki a koe – thank you so much 🧡 Together, we can regreen our future!

Save the date: Lock in 13-15 June 2025 for next year’s World Vision 40 Hour Challenge!
