Could one choice change everything for a child and your church? Experience the transformation of your congregation through the power of Chosen.
Shore Community Church, Auckland
Chosen speaks to the need we all feel to be seen and known. Through this new invitation to Child Sponsorship, instead of choosing a child to sponsor, a child chooses you. It's a powerful expression of God's love and redemption. God loves you, chooses you, and sees you.
Bring Chosen to your church and transform your congregation as they live out Jesus' words in Matthew 25 (The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats). Chosen is igniting church communities with fresh vision, passion and love for their neighbours. Energise your people, empower children with choices, and help lift a community out of poverty, for good.
Inspire your congregation to go deeper in their faith, using Chosen as a powerful reminder that Jesus chooses us out of His great love.
Through Chosen, you can foster connections across ages and cultures and disciple congregants by conveying the heart of the Gospel.
Our team will help you along the way with proven, simple event planning. World Vision staff will ensure you're fully equipped to deliver the Chosen experience at your church.
You congregation is invited to be chosen. A World Vision representative shares a sermon and your pastor casts the vision. Photo booths in the church foyer provide a fun, family-friendly experience. Church members who sign up have their photo taken, then we send your photos to your partner community.
Our local team in your partner community throw a party for children who are waiting for sponsors. Some kids have been waiting for years. Now it's their turn to choose! Each child gets to choose a photo and select their own sponsor. A life-changing choice...
This is a powerful moment for your church! Each person who signed up will find out who chose them. They'll receive an envelope with a photo of their sponsored child holding their photo, and a special first letter. It's the start of a beautiful relationship that will change both their lives.

Chosen is the beginning of a partnership between your church and a community supported by World Vision. This is more than simply an ask for sponsors; this is the outworking of God’s heart for the poor through your church.
Chosen reminds us that choosing to believe in each other gives us a greater sense of purpose, and helps us experience the fullness of life that Jesus talks about in John 10:10. And it offers the chance — through sponsorship, to empower children in need with real choices, so they can become agents of lasting change.
Churches across New Zealand are experiencing the transformational impact of Chosen. We hope you can too!

Is World Vision a Christian organisation?
Yes, World Vision's Christian faith is central to who we are as an organisation. It's what motivates us to serve children in the places we work around the world. We believe every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and deserves to experience life in all its fullness (John 10:10). By addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice, we're doing our part to bring about the kingdom of God "on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10)." We hope you will join us in this mission.
What impact will Chosen have on our church community?
Our prayer for Chosen is that it will transform the lives of your church members, by giving them a tangible way to live out Jesus' words in Matthew 25. We see Chosen as an outworking of the heart of God - that he chooses us, loves us, and sees us. In Acts 20, Paul says it's more blessed to give than to receive and we've found this to be so true. "Not only will God bring about change in the community that you helped to sponsor, but God will change you and God will change your church" (Dave Richards, Minister of St. Paul's & St. George's Church, Edinburgh).
How does World Vision work with local churches around the world?
Every year, World Vision trains more than 100,000 pastors, youth workers, and other Christian faith leaders associated with churches in the world's toughest places. We support church leaders with tools, training and encouragement to minister to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of children in their communities. We help strengthen local churches and equip them with practical programmes and tools for ministry that nurture children’s faith and improve their lives in the name of Jesus.
