We do need a photo if you wish to be chosen by a child. A core component of the chosen experience is that children get to choose their sponsor from a display of photos. It's incredibly empowering for them, and we’ve heard many inspiring stories of what drew individual children to their sponsors.
Our field workers can come from anywhere in the world. In fact, over 95% of World Vision staff are locals, hired to work in their own home regions as a way of building stronger communities.
The nature of the conditions World Vision works in are highly unstable. Things change rapidly so we need to be able to allocate money accordingly. Funds are allocated on a needs-most basis. In this way, a portion of your donation could go towards supplying clean water, and a portion to resource a Child Friendly Space.
World Vision is an international aid organisation and works alongside refugee communities around the world. Depending on the situation and need, World Vision distribute food, blankets, hygiene kits, winterisation kits, as well as provide clean water, medical care, education and psychological support for refugees who are often in vulnerable situations and facing extreme hardship.
